In 2009, 112 exhibitors from 7 nations succeeded in establishing valuable contact with over 2,600 trade visitors. Interest in GeoTHERM has since grown steadily and policy-makers are also increasing their focus on geothermal energy. According to the report of 13 May 2009 from the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety: "By 2020, around 280 megawatts of power should be installed in Germany from deep geothermal power plants with annual generation of 1.8 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and 8.2 billion kilowatt hours of heat.
