GIGABYTE Mainboard GA-X58A-UD9 treibt Core i7 980X in neue Leistungsdimensionen

Der taiwanische Übertakter "HiCookie" hat als erster Overclocker mit einem Intel Core i7 980X mit Gulftown-Kern die Marke von 7-GHz geknackt.

Dank des offenen Multiplikators konnte HiCookie seinen Prozessor mit dem Faktor 37 bei 190,31 MHz Bustakt auf 7.041 MHz bringen. Neben dem Intel Prozessor kam GIGABYTEs neuestes High-End-Mainboard GA-X58A-UD9 (http://ud9.gigabyte.de) und Corsairs Dominator GTX2 Speicher zum Einsatz. Die Spannung des Prozessors wurde beim Übertakten auf 1,984 Volt angehoben. Normal sieht Intel 1,375 Volt vor. Daher musste der gesamte Testaufbau auch mit flüssigem Stickstoff gekühlt werden.
