Routenplanung, Zielführung und Routenprotokoll per Notebook
Garmin Mobile PC verfügt über die gleichen Schaltflächen „Zieleingabe“ und „Karte“ wie sie auch bei den Garmin Produkten der nüvi-Reihe zu finden sind. Mit wenigen Klicks können gewünschte Adressen oder eines von beinahe sechs Millionen Sonderzielen, gesucht werden. Auch die Ansteuerung von gespeicherten Outlook-Kontakten ist mit Garmin Mobile PC möglich.
Die Navigationssoftware für Laptops bietet weit mehr als herkömmliche Routenplanung. Neben den klassischen Garmin-Funktionen wie Sprachausgabe, Re-Routing und Tourencomputer, der Reisedaten wie ein Kfz-Bordcomputer automatisch aufzeichnet, ist bei Garmin Mobile PC auch eine Routenprotokollfunktion mit an Bord. Fahrer, die ihre letzte Route im Nachhinein betrachten möchten, rufen die Funktion Track Log auf und können die gefahrene Strecke nochmals betrachten oder auf Google Earth in der Vogelperspektive „nachfliegen“.
Navigationspaket in zwei Varianten erhältlich
Garmin Mobile PC ist sowohl als reines Softwarepaket, als auch mit Garmins neuem GPS 20x Sensor erhältlich. Die reine Softwareversion ist kompatibel mit Breitband-Modems, sowie internen und externen GPS-Empfängern, die über serielle oder Bluetooth-Verbindung Daten im NMEA GPS Format bereitstellen. Wem das Zubehör fehlt oder keinen GPS-Empfänger besitzt, sollte das GPS 20x-Sensor-Paket wählen, das einen hochempfindlichen GPS-Sensor mit USB-Anschluss enthält. Der leichtgewichtige GPS 20x-Sensor besitzt Gummifüße zum Auflegen auf das Armaturenbrett und ist nicht einmal 5 cm lang.
Garmin Mobile PC Nutzer erhalten automatisch kostenlosen Zugang zu den Garmin Online Services. Dieser internetbasierte Echtzeit-Datenservice stellt Informationen über Wetterinformationen, Radarfallendaten und Verkehrsmeldungen von TMC-Anbietern in europäischen Ländern bereit, sofern diese unterstützt werden.
Preise und Verfügbarkeit
Beide Versionen, Garmin Mobile PC mit GPS 20x-Sensor und die reine Softwareversion Garmin Mobile PC, werden ab April 2008 im Handel verfügbar sein. Garmin Mobile PC mit GPS 20x wird für € 129,-, die reine Softwareversion für € 69,- erhältlich sein.
