Fraunhofer ISE erreicht 28,5% Wirkungsgrad bei Konzentratormodulen

In Konzentrator-Photovoltaik steckt noch viel Potenzial

Die Wissenschaftler des Fraunhofer-Instituts für Solare Energiesysteme ISE erreichten jüngst nicht nur den europäischen Rekord für Mehrfachsolarzellen aus III-V-Halbleitern (s. Presseinformation Nr. 19) - auch bei deren Einsatz in der Konzentrator-Photovoltaik wurden Bestwerte gefeiert. So konnten die Solarzellenforscher erstmals 28,5 % Modulwirkungsgrad unter realen Bedingungen am Standort Freiburg messen.

Der Wirkungsgrad der Solarzellen und der Module ist bei der Konzentrator-Photovoltaik der wesentliche Schlüssel zum Erfolg. »Die hohen Zellwirkungsgrade für Solarzellen aus eigener Produktion haben uns beim Erzielen dieses hohen Modulwirkungsgrads sehr geholfen«, sagt Dr. Andreas Bett, Abteilungsleiter 'Materialien - Solarzellen und Technologie' am Fraunhofer ISE. »Aber auch die Arbeit an der nächsten Modulgeneration war ausschlaggebend.« Die Wissenschaftler am Fraunhofer ISE haben in der neusten Modulgeneration auf der Zelle einen weiteren optischen Konzentrator eingesetzt. Andreas Bett ist überzeugt, »dass das Potenzial der Konzentrator-Photovoltaik noch lange nicht ausgeschöpft ist. Wir glauben, dass in den kommenden Jahren noch Zellwirkungsgrade bis zu 45 % und Modulwirkungsgrade bis 35 % möglich sind.«

»Ich halte diese Technologie neben der bewährten Silicium-Technologie für besonders erfolgversprechend für Länder mit starker Sonneneinstrahlung«, so Institutsleiter Prof. Eicke Weber. Schon heute erzeugen PV-Konzentratorsysteme in südlichen Ländern wie Spanien doppelt so viel Strom pro Fläche wie konventionelle Photovoltaik-Technologien auf der Basis von Silicium. Um wettbewerbsfähig zu sein, müssen die Kosten aber noch weiter sinken. Dies kann unter anderem durch höhere Effizienzen erzielt werden.

Wesentliche Unterstützung erfahren die Arbeiten durch das Ministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit BMU im Rahmen des Projekts ''ProKonPV' und durch Concentrix Solar.

Concentrix Solar, eine Ausgründung des Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg und Preisträger des Innovationspreises der Deutschen Wirtschaft 2007 in der Kategorie 'Start-up', erstellt seit drei Jahren photovoltaische Kraftwerke, die auf der FlatCon® Konzentratortechnologie des Fraunhofer ISE beruhen. Concentrix wird in Kürze eine erste 25 MW Produktionsanlage für diese Technologie in Betrieb nehmen.

»Wir glauben, dass die Konzentrator-Photovoltaik ein vielversprechender Weg ist, um die Kosten für Strom von der Sonne langfristig zu senken und so einen Beitrag zur Lösung der Energieprobleme auf unserer Erde zu leisten«, so Andreas Bett.
