Biobasierter Verbundwerkstoff aus PLA mit hochsteifer PLA-Faserverstärkung gewinnt Nachhaltigkeitspreis auf der JEC

Im Rahmen des Europäischen Projektes Bio4self wurde aus dem biobasierten Kunststoff Polylactid (PLA) ein eigenverstärkter Faserverbundwerkstoff aus PLA-Fasern, eingebettet in einer PLA-Matrix, entwickelt. Mit dem neuen Werkstoff lassen sich z.B. mechanisch anspruchsvolle Automobilbauteile oder Gehäuse für Elektro-Haushaltsgeräte entwickeln. Neben dem biobasierten Ursprung lässt sich das Material aufgrund des genialen Mono-Materialkonzepts sehr leicht recyceln. Das ressourcenschonende Konzept mit großem Einsatzpotenzial hat auf der JEC, Europas größter Fachmesse für Verbundwerkstoffe, den ersten Preis in der Kategorie „Nachhaltigkeit“ erhalten.
