This November the image processing industry will gather at Vision 2014, the leading international trade fair for image processing. The latest developments, technologies and application solutions for industrial process optimisation, production automation and quality assurance will be on show.

Industrial applications for increased effectiveness
At Vision 2014, the image processing specialist FRAMOS will shine a spotlight on its products and solutions. From sensors to cameras, lenses to cables, image processing PCs to software, the Munich-based equipment and systems experts are proud to showcase their wide-ranging portfolio. With over 30 years of experience, FRAMOS offers image processing technology users a comprehensive range of services all along the value chain and as a globally active one-stop shopping partner, shows industrial clients, system integrators and research institutes how they can effectively solve the image processing challenges of today and tomorrow.

Speed is all the rage: High-speed cameras with CMOS Global Shutter and USB 3.0 or 10GigE interface
FRAMOS highlights of 2014 include CMOS Global Shutter sensors from SONY which, thanks to their high sensitivity and large dynamic range, deliver the best performance at the lowest price for numerous applications. A new arrival in mass production – The Giganetix Plus camera series for high-resolution multi-tap CCDs – will be presented live by SMARTEK Vision, along with the IMX174, the latest SONY CMOS sensor. With its GigE Vision-compatible Giganetix camera series, SMARTEK Vision offers visitors an extensive range of products for the highly cost-efficient automation of production, packaging and quality assurance systems.

With the HS-20000, Emergent Vision is setting new standards in the field of high-speed image processing for industrial applications. At 32 images per second and 20 megapixels, the HS-20000 raises the productivity of industrial systems thanks to its very high resolution and low power consumption. Featuring Global Shutter technology and a 10GigE interface – a first in industrial image processing – the HS-20000 offers as yet unrivalled performance with maximum resolution and frame rate.

Lumenera will be exhibiting the Infinity3-3UR with USB 3.0, a highly sensitive research-grade microscope camera equipped with the innovative ICX674 CCD Sony sensor with a resolution of 2.8 megapixels and EXview HAD II technology. The result is a fast, high-resolution camera, which produces clear and highly detailed images, even at low light intensity – in fluorescence applications, for example.

Image processing for all: Develop complex systems with no programming expertise

In order for companies to benefit from the use of image processing, the barriers to entry – such as high development and integration costs – must be lowered. Here, the simple configuration of complex tasks is the key requirement for users. Datalogic, the Italian expert for automation technology, is leading the field with ever simpler programming environments, giving the user the ability to develop complex image processing algorithms and systems. The smart camera manufacturer will demonstrate how easy it is to combine vision processors for multi-camera systems, vision sensors and smart cameras.

From capturing to displaying an image: Improved diagnoses with a first-class display
In many applications, it is not just recording images that matters, but also displaying highly contrasted images with accurate colour reproduction. To answer to this requirement, SONY's first OLED displays setting a new benchmark for industry will be presented. The integration of the recently developed "Super Top Emission" technology from Sony in these state-of-the art OLED displays (Organic Light-Emitting Diode“) opens up a whole new dimension in terms of speed, contrast and precise colour reproduction for the fields of television, microscopy and medicinal diagnostics, e.g. for more accurate analyses of tissue and more reliable diagnoses. The Sony OLEDs measure 7.4 to 24.5 inches and can easily be integrated in any system and alsofeature a special algorithm that extends service life considerably.

More freedom of movement thanks to wireless video transmission
Pleora, the co-founder of the GigE Vision standard, and Visiosens, the specialist for customised camera developments, will be presenting their solutions for wireless video transmission on the FRAMOS Vision stand. Pleora is now offering camera manufacturers a wireless interface providing the video interface, driver and software, the manufacturer simply needs to integrate the sensor. Visiosens will exhibit its latest development, a completely wireless video camera, this solution is of particular interest to manufacturers of endoscopes, for instance, as they can then offer their customers wireless systems, ensuring complete freedom of movement during handling.

We want our customers to benefit from the latest image processing technologies
In addition to a wide range of product innovations, FRAMOS is also demonstrating ongoing research projects, such as photovoltaic panel inspection, using new camera technologies. With the "Polterlux", a complete image processing system for use in forestry management, Visiosens shows how easy it is to benefit from these technologies in a varied range of industries, effectively saving time and resources.

The experts on the FRAMOS stand also offer free advice on the subject of developing image processing systems, customised camera developments and implementation of complex image processing and compression algorithms on FPGAs.
