Aggressive media, extreme temperatures, mechanical stressing: Seals have to withstand a great variety of different loads continuously and reliably. And this necessitates solutions which are ideally matched to the respective sealing task. As the world’s only trade fair of its type, ISGATEC presents materials, sealing systems and processing machines for economic, watertight solutions which are tailor made to meet user requirements. The International Trade Fair for Sealing Technology with integrated expert forum will take place in Nuremberg concurrent to POWTECH and TechnoPharm from 27 to 29 March 2007.

Usually, no one has much to say about seals until they no longer ideally fulfil the specified requirements, resulting in costly, image-damaging incidents or recalls. Malfunctions are not infrequently caused by incorrect dimensioning, unsuitable sealing materials or influences resulting from seal design which have not been taken into consideration. And this often results from the fact that a seemingly limitless variety of seal materials and sealing systems make it difficult for developers and engineers to make the right selection. After all, identification of the technically and economically best sealing solution necessitates extensive knowledge of the characteristics of the various groups of materials used in the field of sealing technology including, amongst others, silicones, elastomers, thermoplastic elastomers, thermoplastics, metallic seal materials, composite materials and chemically engineered materials. Know-how concerning the utilised production techniques and resulting tolerances, as well as legal regulations for certain applications, is also absolutely essential. Precisely this type of technical knowledge is offered by ISGATEC in a concentrated fashion at a single location. The trade fair will be provided with technical support by the European Sealing Association.

Presentation and Procurement Platform with Extensive Drawing Power
The International Trade Fair for Sealing and Polymer Technologies and further processing has thus evolved into an attractive information, communication and procurement platform for developers, R&D engineers, designers and purchasing agents, as well as for users from production, quality assurance and maintenance, and technical distributors. “From a technical standpoint, ISGATEC visitors are highly qualified. They arrive at the trade fair with concrete questions and tasks”, summarises Manfred Joretzki, managing director of Ulman Dichtungsechnik. The outstanding technical competence and decision making authority demonstrated by ISGATEC’s visitors – of which there were more than 3200 at the last event – make it easy for the exhibitors to establish initial business contacts. “For us, the trade fair was an excellent platform for presenting innovations. And we had considerably more visitors at our booth than at the first ISGATEC”, reports Norbert Weimer, product manager for the seals division at Klinger GmbH. For this reason, the company has already registered to participate at the upcoming event, as is also the case with numerous other large domestic and foreign companies including Basler, Deutsche Hutchinson, DaPro Rubber, Dyneon, Frenzelit, Hecker-Werke, Saint-Gobain and Wacker-Chemie. The exhibition portfolio includes dynamic sealing systems (mechanical face seals, shaft seals, hydraulic and pneumatic seals), chemically engineered seals, static seals made of various materials in a great variety of variants, adhesive and sealing systems, liquid gaskets, sealing strips, moulded parts, diaphragms, bellows and profiles. Additional focal points include sealing materials, semi-finished seals, processing machines and equipment, tool and mould making, assembly and feed technology, measuring and test equipment, and services. Trade fair offerings will be rounded out with the fields of bonding, joining, surface finishing and insulating.

The Expert Forum – Concentrated Sealing Know-How
ISGATEC will also meet the great demand for information regarding sealing technology with a 3-day, practice-oriented expert forum under the technical direction of Professor Dr. Wolfgang Tietze. Renowned speakers from research and industry will offer information covering applications-related topics with more than 20 presentations. Topics include sealing materials, adhesives and liquid gaskets, a comparison of sealing systems (static and dynamic seals), production and processing, damage analysis (causes and prevention), leak tests and services covering all aspects of sealing technology.
