Prisma Presse confirms eZ Publish as the digital platform for their web

In 2006, the Prisma Presse media group renewed its publishing focus on the Web. Today, its Web strategy continues to be successful with eZ Publish as its platform of choice for Internet portals and intranet sites.

eZ Systems, the creator of the Open Source CMS eZ Publish, has attended well to the needs and expectations of France-based Prisma Presse. As a result, whenever Prisma Presse creates or re-launches a website, it uses eZ Publish as the digital platform.

Currently, Prisma Presse has 20 publications, including 5 weekly titles, 2 bi-weekly titles, 11 monthly titles, and 2 bi-monthly titles. Prisma Presse has 872 employees and distributes more than 280 million magazines every year. Among the more well-known titles are : VSD, Capital, Management, Femme Actuelle, National Geographic, Gala, and GEO.

2006: Choosing eZ Publish

Two years ago, Prisma Presse chose Open Source in an effort to enhance its various Web presences and to create a re-usable web platform.

Its strategy was to solidify its position on the Internet while delivering value-added content and services online for its various publications. Prisma Presse searched for a business partner to help it to easily and quickly deploy professional Internet portals with a standardized approach and methodology. After having consulted different vendors in the market, Prisma Presse chose eZ Systems and its eZ Publish CMS for its unique ability to manage flexible content types and its very competitive total cost of ownership.

After successfully launching its own Intranet portal, Prisma Pub, as well as the French National Geographic site on eZ Publish, Prisma Presse made it a goal to launch about 15 more sites, one website per brand. The standardized approach recommended by eZ Systems played an important role, enabling subsequent sites to re-use parts of designs, content and functionality. By basing sites on a common architecture, developers at Prisma Presse were able to focus on new features specific to each site. The openness of the eZ Publish platform enabled the developers to easily integrate the sites with whatever external technologies the new features required.

2008: Confirming eZ Publish as the digital platform

Two years after the new Web strategy, the results are clear : more than 11 sites have been launched using the eZ Publish platform, and the standardized approach has been a real success. Prisma Presse can deploy new sites in 8 weeks.

In addition to an efficient deployment process, the platform has provided several other benefits. eZ Publish's built-in multilingual functionality speeds up the development of international sites such as Gala and soon GEO.

The Prisma Presse technical team is now quite experienced with eZ Publish, and improves with each site launch. The team is also supported by eZ Systems experts, who are always willing and able to share their knowledge and provide help.

Easily configurable, eZ Publish also addresses the specific needs of the large media group. eZ Publish has evolved to include more media-specific functionality. eZ Systems has proven its media focus with : the eZ Flow solution, which is dedicated to portal pages and content flow plans ; and the creation of the eZ User Media Group. With a wealth of built-in functionality, including webshops, blogs, forums, and support for Web services, as well as the continued development of new features, eZ Publish gives Prisma Presse confidence that it is prepared for whatever the future holds. Prisma Presse is well equipped to face new organizational challenges and to launch new services.

For example, eZ Publish opens up the possibility for new interfaces dedicated to mobile publishing, and Prisma Presse hopes to soon launch new services for mobile phones.
