Polycarbonate sheets: Exolon® replaces Makrolon®

(PresseBox) (Pulheim/Tielt/Nera Montoro, )
Farewell Makrolon® – Hello Exolon®! The Exolon Group is taking the biggest step in its company's relatively short history and saying goodbye to the name of its core product Makrolon®. In future, polycarbonate multiwall and solid sheets will be produced and sold under the new brand name Exolon®. This brand change reflects the new identity and strategic business direction of the Exolon Group.

The brand name will firstly change for the multiwall sheet range from May 2021, followed by the solid sheet range in July 2021.

The Exolon Group has produced and distributed Makrolon® polycarbonate solid and multiwall sheets for many years, making it a well-known brand. It was clear that such a successful product would not undergo a radical change, but that the tried-and-tested properties would be taken forward into the future.

"Nothing else is changing, apart from the name. We will continue to represent excellence in quality, service and safety," underlined Jens Becker, CEO of Exolon Group. The brand may be evolving, but all contacts within the Exolon Group remain the same and are happy to answer any questions about the products. In short: the name may have changed – but the product, the people and service remain the same.

The Makrolon® brand as a registered trademark owned by the Covestro Group will continue to be used for the polycarbonate raw material. This continues to be used in the production of Exolon® sheet material. This means the processing and surface quality will remain the same and the material properties will be identical. All production processes and safety regulations (fire classifications, CE, etc.) are classified and certified as usual according to the required regulations.

The brand: Evolution not revolution

The Exolon Group is opting for a subtle shift in the brand's visuals and product name. Going forward, the clear new lettering will appear on protective films, documentation and samples without any extra embellishment.

The familiar product naming convention is also essentially retained. For instance, the multi wall sheet range "Makrolon® multi UV“ will now become "Exolon® multi UV“.

Dealers that still have Makrolon® sheet products in stock may still use the material and logo until the stock is sold. Due to the identical material properties, the old Makrolon® and new Exolon® sheets can be used together.

*Makrolon® is a registered trademark owned and licensed by Covestro Group
