Low-cost, high-performing "system-on-module" solution / Easy design of complex processor system on 4-layer baseboards

At this year’s embedded world expo in Nurnberg, exceet electronics, a member company of exceet Group and a specialist for complex electronic control units and assemblies, will showcase a system-on-module (SoM) solution that lets users exploit the advantages of the i.MX6UL2 even without in-depth technical expertise.

The i.MX6UL2 microprocessor, placed on a small 25 mm x 25 mm board, can be deployed easily, rapidly and cost-efficiently as a computer core for all sorts of applications such as displays or gateways.

Easy Implementation of Complex Microprocessor Systems

Using the exceet SoM, complex microprocessor systems featuring sophisticated DDR3 RAM integration and small pitches can be realized more quickly, more cost-effectively and with lower layout effort than before. As a baseboard, the user can deploy simple 4-layer boards, which as a rule can be implemented without profound electronics skills.

Users with variant-rich portfolios gain a special benefit: They can keep using the high-performing computer core over and over as a module. In such cases, different variants are mapped via different baseboards, which significantly reduces the level of effort for circuit diagram generation and layout and thus leads to reduced time-to-market cycles.

New LUCOM Remote Alarm und I/O Module LobiX NG

In addition to the i.MX6 solution, exceet member company LUCOM will be demonstrating a new remote alarm and I/O module. The LobiX NG monitors analog and digital values and reports deviations from specified (limit) values via SMS, email, fax and/or voice mail. This helps prevent major downtime events and permits report forwarding by way of sophisticated alarm chains until an error routine has been implemented. An intuitive interface lets users determine such hierarchical alarm chains, but also define active or inactive times of operation. Depending on the success of an output signal, an additional alarm path can be switched as an output.

Remote switching and queries regarding individual values is possible at any time via SMS, as is the regular sending of SMS to monitor operating capability.

In the event of a power failure, all switching parameters and settings are retained. The new version also boasts higher hardware performance: For example, the LobiX NG features an SSL-supported modem that relies on a faster processor and an improved network (100 mbit/s) than the predecessor model. The device is ready for use with all current and future IoT applications.
