As a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), one of the University's most important criteria in the selection process was the ability to accommodate and make available a complex range of content from existing and future repositories, a requirement that Aleph and Primo were easily able to meet. Together these solutions encompass both sides of library activity-the management of collections and the discovery and use of resources by students and researchers. Core Primo competencies-sophisticated search technology, flexibility, and deep search architecture-will ensure that the University's many library users will be able to access all of the library's resources at any time, whether on or off campus.
"We are excited to be offering this advanced discovery system to our users," commented Joyce Ogburn, university librarian at the University of Utah. "Primo integrates perfectly with Aleph, and can easily be dovetailed onto our existing SFX link resolver, providing us with a unified search interface for our print, electronic, and digital collections. Primo will lay the foundations for future collaboration with other academic libraries in the region."
Susan Pastore, vice president of sales at Ex Libris North America, commented, "I am pleased to welcome the University of Utah and the College of Eastern Utah into the growing community of North American institutions which have chosen Primo to serve as a universal solution for finding and utilizing the full spectrum of their materials. We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with the University, one of 98 ARL libraries in the Ex Libris customer base, and to deepening our links with other institutions in the State."
