Köln, Hannover – 14. März 2003 – Die Reichweite der Satellitenflotte von Eutelsat erstreckt sich nun bis in den Südosten von Australien. Der neue Satellit W5 lieferte hierfür mit der Übertragung des Formel 1-Rennens aus Melbourne den offiziellen Beweis.
Eutelsat übermittelte die Bilder für den Abonnement-TV-Sender Premiere. Für die Übertragung war der Premiere-Dienstleister MTI verantwortlich. Das Unternehmen übertrug vier verschiedene digitale Signale mit einer Flyaway-Antenne direkt vom Grand Prix in Melbourne an seinen Teleport in München. Die vier Signale zeigten verschiedene Kameraeinstellungen und wurden von Premiere live gesendet.
