For the eighth successive year, EuPD Research is compiling the study „European PV InstallerMonitor“. The study offers comprehensive insights into important photovoltaic markets. For this purpose, installers of PV systems are surveyed about several relevant topics.
The "European PV InstallerMonitor 2015/2016" indicates only 12% of the survey participants already offer energy storage solutions, which is only 1% more than previous year. However, whereas only 42% were considering energy storage in last year’s study, this year more than half of all surveyed installers (53%) want to include energy storage in their portfolio in 2016. This demonstrates that energy storage in the UK still offers a high potential.
SMA is not only the most used energy storage brand, but also the best known. Tesla, though, achieved an overwhelming second place in regard to brand awareness, which is all the more surprising as their products were not yet available in the UK at the time of the survey. Due to the lack of experience most British installers still have concerns about energy storage. Most often problems such as high prices and thus low margins are mentioned.
Apart from topics such as energy storage, the study features issues such as procurement management, market penetration, brand management, satisfaction and recommendation. The study does not focus on the UK solely, but is also available for the PV markets in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Overall, a total of 650 European PV installers were surveyed for the 8th edition of the “European PV InstallerMonitor”.
