Worldwide PV cell production capacities have ramped-up significantly in Asia in the previous years. Whether silicon based PV or thin film, cell production in both segments has increased tremendously in Asian countries particularly in China, Taiwan and Japan. Especially Taiwan has experienced rapid growth. Whilst the sales market holds no great potential for downstream PV players because installations are limited to 70 MW in 2011 for example, upstream players are showing tremendous growth rates. One of the main reasons is the entry of multinational electronic companies in the PV market with large production outputs.
Most important trade fair and exhibition in Taiwan
The greater importance of the Taiwanese PV industry is also reflected in the expansion of the trade fair and exhibition "PV Taiwan" in Taipei. Compared to 2009, the 2010 edition grew by 25%. More than 11,000 visitors from 57 countries around the world visited the exposition. The "PV Taiwan" 2011 will take place between October 5-7, in the Taiwan International Convention Center and is sure to be just as well-visited.
The accompanying conference "PV Taiwan Forum" will be held from October 5-6, 2011. In the framework of this forum, Markus A.W. Hoehner, CEO at EuPD Research, will give an expert speech on October 5, 2011 offering insight on the US market.
