For a long time, the growth of America's PV market was characterized by two dominant states, California and New Jersey. Even if they remain the forerunners in the near future, more states are catching up in the field of PV installations. Recently, development has primarily focused on two regions, states on the east and west coast of the United States. In the years following 2009, development spread to further states apart the solar hubs at the American east and west coast. Due to this, the US PV market will become more diversified and the industry will receive a broader basis for the future.
Emerging markets in Texas and surrounding regions
One of the emerging markets can be found in Texas. In the past, this state had more significance as an oil supplier or a place for wind energy, but solar energy, generated by PV plants, is set to gain in importance. After the first significant installations of 26 MW in 2010, market experts estimate a market growth of about 111 MW in the current year. Drivers of the development are the current incentive schemes, such as a newly established bill including a state rebate system that will guarantee rebates between $1-2 per installed Watt for new PV systems, depending on their size. Furthermore, a goal of 1 GW of new PV installations was set to be achieved over the next five years.
Joint Forces for Solar heading to Texas
The developments on the emerging market of Texas and the surrounding regions will be discussed at the "4th US Breakfast Briefing & Networking Forum" on October 18th, 2011 in Dallas, Texas at W Dallas - Victory Hotel. At this exclusive networking event, the leading market research institute, EuPD Research, will give comprehensive insight on emerging US PV markets. Presentations are followed by the highlight of the event, the high-level panel discussion covering further developments on all relevant US PV markets. Will the growth in Texas be sustainable if it is primarily based on the residential and small commercial segment? Or will the future remain uncertain due to the strong field installation segment dominated by the utility companies? With this event, the Joint Forces for Solar initiative, initiated by EuPD Research and Intersolar, is heading to Texas for the first time.
Particular thanks are expressed by the organizers to event sponsors: Bosch Solar Energy, CSUN, pvXchange, REC Solar US, KACO new energy, Q-Cells North America, SES21 USA LLC, Schletter Inc. as well as to the media partners pv magazine and PVTech.org.
