"German PV Market Briefing 2013": Decision-makers from the PV industry will be coming together for the 6th time to discuss the future of the German solar industry, the subsidization of solar storage systems and future market potentials

(PresseBox) (Bonn / Frankfurt a.M., )
The "German PV Market Briefing", organized by EuPD Research has long been an integral part of the solar industry's calendar of events. Decision-makers from the entire branch meet annually to discuss market developments, potentials and current trends in the photovoltaic sector. On the 21st of February, the industry, analysts and opinion leaders will be meeting once again in the "Steigenberger Airport Hotel" in Frankfurt am Main to discuss the current market situation in Germany. In three sessions they will be covering both the German photovoltaic market with its challenges, chances and possibilities, as well the renewable energy law (EEG) and potential business models that can be successful without the need for subsidization.

Alongside market prognoses and expansion data, the analysts from EuPD Research will also be examining the Federal Environmental Ministry's (BMU) current proposals in which a cap on the environmental energy law levies is being considered. The chances and risks of this adjusted subsidy program will be debated alongside the need for the subsidization of solar storage systems and the possible ramifications of such a decision. This discussion will also allow for the more critical opinions of those who consider this form of subsidization overrated. Also on the agenda will be the much-discussed countervailing duties and the possible preemptive effects that could result from these.

Besides Markus Lohr, senior analyst at EuPD Research, the discussion round will also include Cornelia Viertl, representative for solar and deep-geothermal energy from the Federal Environmental Ministry (BMU), Jörg Mayer, CEO of the Federal Solar Industry Association (BSW) and Dr. Günther Ebert from the Fraunhofer-Institut for Solar Energy Systems ISE. The lineup is completed by Dr. Holger Krawinkel, specialist area manager in the fields of building, energy and environment from the Federation of German Consumer Organizations (vzbv).

In light of reduced subsidization and the increasing decentralization of energy supply, one separate afternoon session will be covering possible subsidy-independent business models and examining the role of the energy provider in these plans. Dr. Alexander Dloughy, partner of the international law firm White and Case LLP will be explaining the legal framework and thus providing a foundation for the discussion. The future of open space and the chances provided by Power Purchase Agreements will also be open for debate.

Tobias Schütt, founder and CEO of DZ-4 GmbH will then be giving a practical report using the example of German energy providers. The closing panel discussion will also include Florian Meyer-Delpho, CEO of Greenergetic, who will be providing an insight into the current challenges and opportunities faced by public utilities in the private PV sector.

Each session will be accompanied by an individual opinion benchmark and a vote. This way, all participants can share their opinions in real time at the touch of a button and thus provide a direct impression of the current mood within the industry. The results will then be explored as part of the discussion and can be commented on and analyzed directly by the experts. The event will be closed by a prognosis for the future of the branch.
