Solar manufacturer Canadian Solar achieves the highest level of unaided brand awareness of PV module suppliers in the UK. This is one result of the new comprehensive European PV InstallerMonitor 2014/2015 by market research and consulting firm EuPD Research.
In the course of the annual survey among solar installation companies in key European PV markets the manufacturer shows an increased market penetration in the UK. With an installed capacity of 2,301 MWp, the country is expected to become the largest PV market in Europe in 2014.
According to the results of the survey also the UK market for energy storage solutions could grow significantly in the near term. Nearly half of the surveyed installers are planning to include storage systems in their portfolio in 2015 for the first time.
"The performance of Canadian Solar and the growing focus of the installers on energy storage solutions are examples for the changing PV market landscape in Europe", Dr. Thomas Olbrecht, Head of Research & Analytics at EuPD Research, explains.
Shaped by a changing competitive environment and a consolidation process, PV market players in Europe are currently struggling to maintain their market share. In line with these trends solar installation companies are gaining increasing importance while representing the gatekeepers for a big share of the industry's turnover.
Against this background EuPD Research monitored more than 750 installers across Europe regarding their assessment of the current and future market development, their utilized procurement channels and their attitude toward different manufacturers.
Derived from surveys among pure solar installers, HVAC installation companies, electricians or roofers in Germany, UK, Italy, France and Benelux countries, the European PV InstallerMonitor 2014/2015 provides insights about the attitudes, expectations and preferences of the gatekeepers for a big share of the industry's turnover.
