Ferrero supports international research at ESMT with Pietro Ferrero Chair in Sustainability

The family-owned company Ferrero continues to increase its focus on sustainability by founding the Pietro Ferrero Chair in Sustainability at ESMT European School of Management and Technology in Berlin. Prof. CB Bhattacharya has been named holder of the new chair. With its emphasis on sustainability, the chair supports the ESMT research mission, which is based upon three central pillars: leadership and social responsibility, European competitiveness, and the management of technology. Research projects and case studies will concentrate on sustainability and responsible leadership.
CB Bhattacharya has been a member of the ESMT faculty since 2009. He has published internationally recognized research on sustainability, responsible business practices, and stakeholder value in more than 80 renowned academic journals and two books. His research has been cited by other academics more than 10,000 times according to Google Scholar. Combining academic rigor with practical relevance in his research, Prof. Bhattacharya is often quoted in international mainstream publications such as Businessweek and Forbes and on international television. CB Bhattacharya received his PhD from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania.
"At Ferrero, sustainability has always been an entrepreneurial attitude in the sense of responsible, social and long-term corporate governance. So what would be more obvious than to support a sustainability chair focusing on scientific research and the concrete communication of this topic", Germany's Managing Director Carlo Vassallo summarizes the reasons for supporting the chair. "However, sustainable corporate governance at Ferrero also means to lead the company across several generations with good judgment and with a view to the future. That the title of the chair will include the name of our former CEO, Dr. Pietro Ferrero, is an honor for us and will inspire us for the future."

Ferrero is a worldwide operating confectionery company which is owner-managed in the third generation. Global brands like nutella, Rocher, tictac or kinder have made the company successful at an international level. In the German confectionery market Ferrero, with its more than 3,500 employees, is market leader and plays an important role within the Group.
ESMT European School of Management and Technology
ESMT European School of Management and Technology was founded in October 2002 by 25 leading global companies and institutions. The international business school offers a full-time MBA, an executive MBA, a master’s in management as well as open enrollment and customized executive education programs. ESMT focuses on three main topics: leadership and social responsibility, European competitiveness, and the management of technology. ESMT faculty publishes in top academic journals. Additionally, the business school provides an interdisciplinary platform for discourse between politics, business, and academia.
