In addition to a core and specialization courses on campus at ESMT in Berlin, students take advantage of a six-month internship in Germany or abroad. Partner companies providing internships are Allianz, Axel Springer, BMW, Bosch, Deutsche Post DHL, Deutsche Bank, E.ON, Gazprom, McKinsey, Siemens and ThyssenKrupp. The program also includes a two-month field project and four months of applied master's thesis research in a partner company or on an academic project at ESMT. Following the core courses and the internship, students have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in a business function of their choice, such as innovation and technology.
The average age of the students starting the ESMT MIM program is 23. The class includes graduates from universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard, among other top institutions. Thirty-eight per cent of the class is female, and 15 per cent are from Germany. There are also three Kofi Annan Fellows from Zimbabwe, Cambodia, and Kenya. The Kofi Annan Fellowship is a full scholarship aimed at students from developing countries who plan to support the advancement of the economy in their home region after graduation.
