ENISA launches information security awareness videos in 23 European languages

US Department of Homeland Security promotes ENISA videos during National Cyber Security Awareness Month

(PresseBox) (Heraklion, Crete, )
ENISA (the European Network and Information Security Agency) has launched a series of free videos in all 23 official EU languages. Designed to help raise awareness of information security risks and encourage secure handling of electronic data, the 13 video clips range from how to use strong passwords and protect sensitive data to locking down and securing your computer. They can now be downloaded from the Agency website (http://www.enisa.europa.eu/...) and are suitable for use in information security training programmes and other awareness initiatives.

"We felt it was important to make our video material available in all of the official EU languages to make the greatest impact on EU citizens, businesses and governments," said Professor Udo Helmbrecht, Executive Director of ENISA. "Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and in today's world of 24x7 ecommerce, social media and communications, it is therefore vital that we are all aware of the risks and follow simple steps to protect our identities and information. The videos are a fast and clear way to get these messages across and we want to encourage governments, organisations, businesses, schools and colleges to use them to help spread the word."

The launch is part of ENISA's on-going commitment to raise information security awareness. It is also in line with the aims and objectives of the joint EU US Working Group on Cybersecurity and Cybercrime, which has the objective to ensure a reliable, resilient and trustworthy digital infrastructure through collaboration. In October, the US Department of Homeland Security promoted the ENISA videos during one of the four thematic weeks of its eighth annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month, focusing on online security for small and medium sized businesses. http://www.dhs.gov/...
