The first announcement of the 7th International Geothermal Conference (IGC 2011) is now published. The Conference will take place at Freiburg Concert Hall on May 10-12, 2011. Once again the IGC will be the geothermal networking and exchanging platform for more than 200 international participants. Amongst others the diversified programme includes a Short Course and different workshops on May 10, as well as the Main Congress on May 11 and two or three field trips on the last day on May 12. The complete programme flow of the conference can be combined individually. An Opening Lounge and Business Dinner as supporting programme complete the offer and make the Conference the ideal networking event.

The fist day of the IGC 2011 will focus on the realisation of EGS-projects, the potential of pump technology and project reports from the US, Switzerland and other countries. On the second day, the Congress Day, will be panel discussions among others on risk potentials and challenges of seismic events, the future of the Renewable Energy Act, concessions and authorisation policy and the requirements for investing in geothermal projects. The third day offers a practical possibility to delve into some topics by going on field trips to project and drilling sites in the Upper Rhine Valley.

Thanks to its international orientation and simultaneous German-English interpretations, the Conference offers a perfect setting to discuss international deep geothermal challenges and pushes forward the development of a renewable energy technology which has a promising future.

The agency Enerchange is the organiser of the International Geothermal Conference. Since 2008 the economic development and marketing company of Freiburg, the Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH & Co.KG (FWTM) is co-organiser. Co-operation partners for the IGC 2011 are the German Energy Agency (dena), the Wirtschaftsforum Geothermie and the International Geothermal Association (IGA).
