Avamar wird mit seiner Technologie das EMC Portfolio in den Bereichen Datensicherung und Recovery erweitern und den bereits von vielen Anwendern eingeleiteten Wandel von Tape- zu Disk-basierten Recovery-Loesungen beschleunigen. Deduplizierungs-Technologie reduziert Datenmenge
Die Avamar-Software vereinfacht und beschleunigt Backups, indem sie redundante Datensegmente bereits an der Quelle identifiziert. Dies verringert die Belastung der Netzwerke und reduziert die zu speichernde Datenmenge. Der Einsatz von Deduplizierungs-Loesungen kann in Unternehmen die Datenmenge im Tagesgeschaeft im Verhaeltnis 300:1 reduzieren.
Avamar-Technologie setzt heute bereits auf EMC-Technologien wie EMC CLARiiON fuer plattenbasiertes Backup und EMC Centera im Bereich Langzeitarchivierung auf. Zudem ist die Technologie auch bereits ergaenzend zur Backup-Software EMC NetWorker einsetzbar.
