For the standard head unit in the new Audi A1, the premium car manufacturer made the decision to use the flexible software products of EB for the Delphi infotainment system. The system offers radio, navigation, and connectivity functionality. "EB's software products provide versatile adaptation to individual OEM requirements and fast integration with different applications. That makes it possible to create an application in the Audi-typical vehicle environment that ideally reflects the identity of the strong brand" says Martin Schleicher, Vice President Products & Platforms Infotainment at EB. This flexibility of software solutions is valued by responsible system manufacturers and system integrators like Delphi, too: "Using EB's software, Delphi's Connectivity Navigation Radio platform is making a new generation of feature-rich embedded infotainment systems available to Audi," said Dr. Wilhelm Steger, managing director of Delphi's Infotainment & Driver Interface product business unit in Europe. "EB's products were easily integrated into our system architecture and have helped Delphi to offer Audi superb quality and added functionality."
Audi's navigation solution based on EB street director
EB street director is flexibly configurable. That means the navigation solution can be fully adapted into the manufacturer's designs, so automotive clients get a customized navigation system with a brandspecific appearance. "EB street director's flexible architecture enabled us to accomplish both, implement Audi's features to the navigation and its seamless integration to Audi's MMI (Man Machine Interface)," says Schleicher.
Reusable speech dialog solution for Audi's infotainment systems
Audi used EB GUIDE STF to integrate a flexible runtime environment for speech dialogs into their head units. This product provides applications like navigation with different speech services with appropriate grammar. EB GUIDE STF thus connects the user interface with automatic speech recognition (ASR) and speech synthesis (Text-to-Speech, TTS) services from third-party providers. For example, the entry of a destination into the navigation system by speech (Voice Destination Entry, VDE) was implemented in this way for different country variants.
Navigation software EB street director
EB street director is an industry leading navigation software solution for the automotive and consumer electronics market. It is modularly designed and supports many different operating systems. EB street director can be used in devices that range from built-in systems in vehicles and PNDs (portable navigation device) to mobile phones and MIDs (mobile internet device). The stable and welldocumented interfaces of EB street director's architecture allow customers to integrate their own applications and services (e.g. online search) as well as those of third-party manufacturers.

HMI development and speech dialog design with EB GUIDE
The EB GUIDE product family enables the specification and modeling of graphical elements and speech dialogs for automotive HMIs. HMI models can be translated into specific code for target systems as well. Based on its expertise in infotainment and navigation systems EB also develops customer-specific complete or partial speech dialog-based solutions with automatic speech recognition and generic speech synthesis.
Delphi's CNR-Platform (Connectivity Navigation Radio)
Delphi's CNR is based upon a scalable hardware platform and offers vehicle manufacturers the ability to easily adjust media center capability to meet the unique needs of individual vehicle models. The system supports navigation functionality with a high-resolution color display and 2.5D graphics, and includes map data for East- and West-Europe on a single SD card. The connectivity functionality makes it possible to connect a nomadic device such as an iPod®, another music player or a data storage device to the vehicle's audio system. Using the world standard Bluetooth, the unit can be configured to allow hands-free calls or even stream music from the driver's mobile phone to the highperformance system.
