German-Japanese partnership for East European growth

Japanese group Kaga Electronics Co. purchases 22 percent share in Elatec

(PresseBox) (Haar, )
The publicly traded Japanese Kaga Electronics group has acquired a 22 percent share in the German company Elatec GmbH. Both companies are specialised distributors of electronic components. The move aims to strengthen their activities in the fast-growing East European market where Elatec has been operating successfully for a number of years and has excellent contacts.

In signing the agreement in October 2006, the parties sealed a partnership of great benefit to both sides. Kaga Electronics reported turnover of over US $2.5 billion for 2005 and is aiming for rapid expansion in the growth markets of Eastern Europe, where Elatec has been successfully active for years distributing electronic components and developing and supplying telephone, banking and loyalty cards, as well as RFID solutions. While Kaga thus gains access to established distribution channels and business contacts, Elatec will benefit from a financially strong partner and a more diversified product portfolio to further expand its East European activities.
