Mexico City - that's 13,000 tons of waste every day. On average, every inhabitant of the megacity produces 1.7 kilos of garbage per day. Few cities in the world produce as much waste as Mexico City.
In the area of urban waste, many municipalities have problems paying the electricity bills of their waste disposal companies and hope that the bioenergy plant will improve the situation.
According to a study by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), there are already over 20 urban waste facilities in Mexico. These include three bio composters that initially absorb biogas from urban waste and then use it to generate electricity. In addition, biogas is extracted from eight landfills and, in most cases, also turned into electricity. There are at least eleven corresponding plants in sewage treatment plants across the country.
There is high demand for technology and Know-how out of Europe, which the successful participation of the official German Pavilion at GREEN EXPO proves since many years. For this year the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy will support the event again within the scope of the Export Initiative Energy. Messe Leipzig International is the implementation company for this participation. Another long-standing exhibitor from Europe is Tedom, a leading CHP unit manufacturer from the Czech Republic. “We are very happy with our attendance, we were able to close several deals and increase our market share. People who attended the booth came with a lot of expectation on how to use our technologies. We will definitely go back in 2020”, stated Rodrigo Cerecer, Sales Manager of Tedom.
Aquatech and Intersolar are taking place parallel to Green Expo at Centro Citibanamex. The total attendance of the three events counted 2019 17.206 professional visitors and conference attendees. 90% of the attendees came from private sector, 70% national and 20% international. Delegates from the Federal, State and Municipal level represented another 10%.
