The recovery and biomass industry is currently experiencing a significant boom in Mexico.
Mexico has to break new ground in waste management. From 2015 to 2020, it is predicted that the amount of municipal waste will increase by 9%. The industry is becoming more professional, however, especially in the rural areas still prevail municipal companies with little experience and a limited budget. Business opportunities for German technology providers exist primarily in the waste separation and recycling as well as the energetic use of municipal waste.
According to forecasts by the Mexican Ministry of Energy, bioenergy is expected to grow strongly in the coming years as a result of the general expansion of renewable energies. The government has set itself ambitious goals in the transition to renewable energy sources. By 2024, 35% of the electricity should come from non-fossil sources, 2050 already 50%. From cacti to slaughterhouse waste and landfills, the biogas potential in Mexico is huge.
Of the almost 10,000 trade visitors to THE GREEN EXPO 2018, 45% were interested in renewable energy and around 30% in waste management, recycling and wastewater treatment.
The next THE GREEN EXPO takes place September 3-5, 2019 in Mexico City.
