EIZO Presents a New Monitor Manager for the Operating Room

(PresseBox) (Karlsruhe, )
EIZO GmbH today announces a new large monitor manager, the LMM0804, as well as a functional enhancement to the existing LMM0801 and LMM0802 models. The large monitor managers enable digital images from various sources to be arranged flexibly on large-format or multiple monitors. The new LMM0804 has been designed for use in operating rooms. The new functions for the LMM0801 and LMM0802 models enable enhanced use in the respective application area (control room, interventional radiology, cardiology, and surgery).

An extremely flexible image display is required during surgery because physicians work in teams and have various tasks. For this reason it is critical that each specialist be provided the necessary image information in the respective optimum field of view. This is why multiple monitors usually are installed in ceiling mounts in the operating room. The new LMM0804 flexibly and intelligently compiles the respective image display for up to five monitors. Monitors with a resolution of up to 1920 x 1200, including full HD (full high definition, 1920 x 1080), can be connected. At the same time, the image content for each individual unit can be defined separately.

The LMM0804 functions as a matrix switch to distribute the various image signals to the available monitors. It also includes the special functions and features of the EIZO large monitor manager, such as combining various input signals on a single monitor, short start-up time, and high functional reliability. With the LMM0804, all monitors can be connected over a distance of up to 36 meters.

The new large monitor manager has 12 video connections; of these, 8 connections can process digital DVI (Digital Visual Interface) signals up to a resolution of 1920 x 1200. Additionally, there are two PAL/NTSC (Phase Alternating Line/National Television Systems Committee) and two analog connections available. Up to 8 signal sources can be displayed simultaneously on a maximum of 5 connected monitors. Four of the connected monitors can display a flexibly combined image, the fifth monitor displays one of the digital image sources directly (loop through).

The existing large monitor managers, LMM0801 and LMM0802, have been enhanced with additional functions. This will enable the growing requirements regarding the highest possible flexibility for the respective application areas to be better met. The scope of functions for the LMM0801 is now in line with the functionality of the LMM0802. For the LMM0802, control from two working places is now possible. As a result, two physicians can work at two working places in the control room, with each having all the information required on a single screen. The LMM0802 can now also manage two 4 megapixel monitors, such as the new RadiForce LX300W.

With all three models, suitable image compilations can be predefined for the connected monitors. The image manager can be controlled and operated using various interfaces. Using a touch screen monitor like the EIZO CID1000P, the optimum display can be selected for the current work step. Alternatively, operation is possible using commercially-available touch consoles. Using a PC connected to a network, the large monitor manager can be operated within a standard browser. An additional network interface enables automatic control of the image manager, for example through a radiography system. As in the past, it is also possible to operate the keyboard and mouse directly at the large monitor manager. The user interface of all three models is intuitive, saving on costly user training.

All three image managers are designed in accordance with the special requirements for the medical field, so an ambient temperature of up to 45° C is permitted and the electrical safety is tested to IEC 60601-1. In addition, electronic components are selected which are available permanently to guarantee long-term system continuity.

Availability
LMM0804 production and launch of the new features for the existing portfolio are planned for the beginning of 2013. Availability may differ depending on local markets. Please contact the EIZO group company or distributor in your country for the latest information. Visitors to Medica 2012 in Düsseldorf, Germany will be able to see the new products for the first time in the EIZO booth, Hall 10, #G41.
