EFI™ is introducing two advanced EFI Fiery® digital front ends (DFEs) for the new Canon imagePRESS C800 and C700 presses. EFI made the announcement today at Canon Europe's Canon for Business 2014 customer and partner event in Poing.

The new Canon imagePRESS Server F200 and G100 are the first DFEs built on EFI's state-of-the-art Fiery FS150 Pro platform for cut-sheet digital production systems. FS150 Pro offers faster processing, unsurpassed image quality and even easier to use automated workflows.

The Fiery FS150 Pro DFEs expand upon the advanced imaging features of their predecessor, an EFI Fiery FS100 Pro platform that was first DFE to earn a 100% perfect pass label from VIGC's PDF RIP Audit. Users can have more confidence than ever before that their output matches the designer's intent on the first print -- including a new unique greyscale composite overprint feature that ensures correct monochrome printing of overprints, drop shadows and transparencies.

"The EFI Fiery FS150 platform's advanced, industry-leading performance helps Canon imagePRESS C800 and C700 users offer extremely high quality while driving productivity and profits," said Georg Hollenbach, managing director, EFI Germany. "We are excited to continue our long partnership with Canon to launch the first DFE product based on our new platform."

The new servers include the latest version of EFI's JDF-certified Fiery technology that can connect users' imagePRESS operations into efficient, plant-wide management workflows to simplify and improve overall business management. Seamless integration to EFI MIS and Web-to-Print products, Océ PRISMA workflow from Canon, and leading prepress workflow solutions - including Kodak Prinergy, Heidelberg Prinect and Agfa :Apogee - provide increased shop automation and productivity.

"Enhancing productivity and quality, eliminating errors and streamlining workflows are all key business requirements for Canon customers. Through the powerful combination of the new imagePRESS C800 and C700 digital colour presses and the imagePRESS Server F200 and G100, our customers will realise these benefits as well as the opportunity to introduce new services and revenue streams," said Mark Lawn, European & UK Marketing Director, Professional Print Solutions, Canon Europe.

Automation, integration and enhanced performance

The new Fiery DFEs for the Canon imagePRESS C700 and C800 are driven by Fiery Command WorkStation®, the intuitive, powerful job management interface that lets users manage all Fiery Driven™ printers locally or remotely from a single place. Command WorkStation makes complex jobs simple, regardless of operator experience. Plus, it increases efficiency and reduces errors with Hot Folder and Virtual Printer automation features.

As part of FS150 Pro, Fiery administrators can now use Command WorkStation to create server-based automated workflows and publish them to all operators to standardize processes and reduce touches.

Additional new features include:

- Expansion of language support to now include Russian, Polish, Czech and Turkish in addition to English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese.
- Support for APPE 3.0, Adobe's latest PDF-native rendering platform.
- A free Fiery Go app for iPads and iPhones that allows busy users to monitor and manage print jobs from anywhere in the print shop while doing other tasks.
- An expanded color library for brand color matching, including the 84 new colors recently issued in the PANTONE Plus Series.

The Canon imagePRESS Server F200 is a standalone DFE for the new Canon imagePRESS C800 and C700 presses, while the G100 model operates as an embedded server for both printers. Both will be available through Canon Europe with new imagePRESS C800 and C700 presses. For more information about Fiery Driven production printing, visit
