EBV Elektronik, Infineon and Data I/O Present Industries First Personalisation Service for Embedded Security

Data I/O Corporation's SentriX security technology used to personalise Infineon's OPTIGA Trust E to provide turnkey authentication solutions

EBV Elektronik, an Avnet (NYSE: AVT) company and the leading specialist in EMEA semiconductor distribution, is collaborating with Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) and Data I/O (NASDAQ: DAIO) to enable turnkey authentication solutions for its customers. The cooperation focuses on providing a secure and cost-efficient implementation process of custom certificates for authentication purposes on Infineon’s OPTIGA Trust E based on Data I/O Corporation’s SentriXTM Security Programming platform.

Authentication of products and devices connected within the Internet of Things (IoT) is critical as it is important to identify who is authorised to communicate, receive and submit data securely to the device. EBV and Infineon partnered with Data I/O Corporation to provide a trusted, secured and integrated security and data programming solution to their customers. Data I/O’s SentriX security programming technology provides EBV with a signing service to personalise Infineon’s OPTIGA Trust E products. SentriX technology is an easy and cost effective security solution to enable a secure implementation of custom signed secure elements for customers with any volume.

“We are very pleased to cooperate with Infineon and Data I/O to establish this service which will enable high flexibility, cost-effectiveness, high security and customer specific certificates for smaller volumes and midsize customers,” comments Christian Krieber, Director Segment Security and Identification at EBV Elektronik. “Offering such value-added services is a core enabler for a variety of IoT applications since many of these applications start with small and medium-sized customers with smaller quantities or very specialised applications.”

“OPTIGA is the Infineon product family offering reliable and easy-to-use security for IoT and embedded applications,” explains Timo Grassmann, Head of Product Marketing Connected Device Security, Infineon Technologies AG. “Combined with the EBV services these products can be used to personalise products allowing customers to benefit from their full feature set and to integrate security tailored to their application.”

“Equipment OEMs are increasingly concerned about threats from counterfeits and intellectual property theft in manufacturing and are turning to authentication devices to secure their IoT products,” said Anthony Ambrose, President and CEO of Data I/O Corporation. “The SentriX platform enables a secure supply chain by providing a trusted, secured, and cost effective programming solution to embed OEM certificates into authentication devices. We are excited to collaborate with EBV Elektronik and Infineon to support the OPTIGA Trust E products and secure global supply chains.”

Service will be fully available to customers at the end of May offering signing service for Infineon’s OPTIGA Trust E. It is planned to extend this service to other devices of Infineon and other manufactures in the near future.

Background Information:

Data I/O’s SentriXTM Security Programming Platform is a highly flexible cost-effective security provisioning and data programming system for authentication devices, secure elements and secure microcontrollers. The SentriX Platform seamlessly combines Data I/O’s PSV7000 device handling technology, LumenXTM  Programming Technology, ConneXTM smart programming software and the SecureThingz Guardian HSM for a trusted, secured and integrated solution.  The SentriX Platform embeds a strong foundation of security, roots-of-trust and authentication in manufacturing to deliver a secure supply chain for trusted devices.
