Each of the new simulation workstations, equipped with a replica of the human head, is now also equipped with a monitor, PC and the latest generation of 'alphadidact' training system by EBS. In addition, large-screen displays are installed in the laboratory. The system facilitates image transmission of digital cameras and microscopes to the monitors of the individual workstations, as well as to projectors and large-screen displays. Simultaneously, the sound of a microphone can be broadcast to headphones or speakers. Instant signal transmission of live demonstrations and accompanying footage is carried out by pressing a button, in highest resolution and without time lag. The lecturers are thus effectively supported during training and simulation of dental problems. Numerous functions offer the lecturer instructional support during trainings.
Through ideal visibility and sound transmission the students can be trained simultaneously at each workstation, and track the presentation of teachers and fellow students in real time. The eye-hand coordination, which is particularly important in dentistry, is intensely trained by means of the multimedia training system.
Also of advantage is the simple, intuitive system operation, its independence of hard- and software as well as its high reliability. There are no follow-up costs and no additional support costs after installation.
The digital systems are developed by EBS in Germany, and are in use in numerous dental simulation clinics worldwide. For further information see www.ebs-euchner.com and www.computerlab-hardware.com.
