On the occasion of the 8th Asia-Pacific IIW International Congress in Bangkok/Thailand on March 20 and 21, Dr.-Ing. Roland Boecking, General Manager of DVS - German Welding Society, met the Thai Minister of Labour, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, for a one-to-one discussion. The subject was DVS's welding technology training system.
Dr. Boecking explained to Sangsingkeo the various possibilities of the welding technology training at the around 320 DVS-authorised educational establishments in Germany and DVS's training activities worldwide. The Thai Minister of Labour showed great interest in the different training paths and the high-quality standards. He endorsed the already existing cooperation between DVS and the Welding Institute of Thailand (WIT).
After the discussion with Sangsingkeo, the DVS General Manager met up with Assoc. Professor Dr. h. c. Banleng Sornil from WIT and the King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB). They signed the Memorandum of Understanding once again and thus reaffirmed the good collaboration between both countries. The cooperation contract relates to the joint refinement of welding technology and the training according to DVS standards.
Furthermore, Dr. Boecking was able to hold several significant discussions with representatives from the economy and from international associations. For example, he talked about the successful DVS-IIW Young Professionals project with Douglas Luciani, President of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). This project for the promotion of youngsters is regarded as pioneering in the international welding society and is a role model for the other IIW member countries. Dr. Boecking also exchanged ideas about the subject of the promotion of youngsters with Dr. Jochen Amrehn, Vice-President of the Nanjing Tech University Pujiang Institute. DVS is thinking about participating in this year's Summer School in Nanjing. Prospective scientists and engineers will be able to introduce their research papers there.
With his lecture about the value added by welding technology in Europe and with the introduction of DVS's training concept at the Asia-Pacific IIW International Congress, Dr. Boecking was finally able to take up the questions of the various participants in the discussions.
