Rekordzahlen beim diesjährigen DATA-MINING-CUP Wettbewerb
Der diesjährige DATA-MINING-CUP Wettbewerb erreichte die höchsten Teilnehmerzahlen seiner Geschichte und untermauert damit seinen Status als weltweit erfolgreichster IT-Studentenwettbewerb auf dem Gebiet der intelligenten Datenanalyse (Data Mining).
Über 530 Teilnehmer von 176 Universitäten aus 41 Ländern beteiligten sich am DMC Wettbewerb 2005, der am 30. April zu Ende gegangenen ist. Die Organisatoren der Veranstaltung - der Data-Mining-Spezialist prudsys AG sowie die Technische Universität Chemnitz - riefen wie auch in den letzten Jahren weltweit Studenten auf, ihre Data-Mining-Kenntnisse an einer praxisorientierten Aufgabe zu messen und ein entsprechendes Lösungsmodell zu erarbeiten. In diesem Jahr beschäftigte sich die Wettbewerbsaufgabe mit dem Thema „Data Mining basierte Betrugserkennung im Versandhandel“. Der Wettbewerb startete am 01. April mit der Ausgabe der Aufgabe und die Teilnehmer hatten einen Monat Zeit, sich daran auszuprobieren und ein Lösungsmodell zu entwickeln. Mehr als 160 Ergebnisse wurden eingereicht, die derzeit von einer fachkundigen Jury bewertet werden. Wer zu den besten Nachwuchs-Data-Minern zählt, wird im Rahmen der DATA-MINING-CUP Anwendertage 2005 (14.-16. Juni 2005, Chemnitz) bekannt gegeben. Bei dieser dreitägigen Anwenderkonferenz, die international zu den führenden Fachkonferenzen für Data Mining, Analytisches CRM und Datawarehousing zählt, informieren über 25 Anwender und Experten über News und Trends auf diesen Gebieten, es werden branchenspezifische Fallbeispiele vorgestellt und zum Erfahrungsaustausch mit anderen Anwendern angeregt. Ab sofort können sich Interessenten für eine Teilnahme anmelden. Die Teilnehmerplätze sind auf 250 limitiert.
