SNMP-based and vendor-independent, NetView is designed to monitor and manage signal flows across the broadcast video value chain from content origination to distribution, encompassing studios, play-out centers and complex delivery networks for both DVB/ATSC and IPTV environments. It provides real-time visibility into all components of a video network, enabling the integration of devices and element managers from various manufacturers into one comprehensive, centralized system through the use of a versatile MIB import tool.
A modular structure allows it to be licensed by network size and function, permitting a low-cost entry point but with the ability to scale to very large configurations supporting more than 500 devices with 20,000+ parameters. NetView’s client/server Java architecture can also be ported to different platforms. This initial release is under Windows.
One intuitive GUI configures and controls the entire network, displaying high-level graphical element overviews of all devices, connections and system status, with the ability to drill down into specific equipment details. Powerful filtering through sophisticated correlation and structured design techniques quickly isolates & identifies root-cause faults while screening secondary effects.
Other noteworthy features that distinguish NetView from other less comprehensive, less sophisticated monitoring systems include:
• Centralized fault management with
o Automatic or manual redundancy switching of not only video signals but equipment profiles (for MPEG encoders, ReMuxes, etc)
o Fault recognition / alarm processing
o User error messages (SMS, fax, email, etc)
• Disaster Recovery
• Event logging of all alarms, user and system actions
• Archiving/Housekeeping
• User administration
