Innovative solutions for the entire RF signal path

DEV Systemtechnik at IBC 2007 in Amsterdam

(PresseBox) (Rosbach v.d.H., )
As the specialist for the transmission of high frequency signals, DEV Systemtechnik is dedicated to the development of intelligent products and systems for cable head end and satellite ground stations. DEV Systemtechnik will showcase its product portfolio, which covers the entire transmission path from antenna to receiver, at the world’s leading exhibition for multimedia content creation - the IBC2007 in Amsterdam. It comprises cutting-edge solutions such as the L-Band optical transmission system DEV 7000, the antenna control unit DEV 9110 as well as new developments in the area of L-Band signal distribution.

Superior product quality and continuous product development constitute DEVs’ reputationas an outstanding partner. DEV will showcase its new solutions at the IBC in September 2007.

The use of fibre optics enables transmission of RF signals over distances of up to 60 kilometres with the DEV 7000 optical transmission system. The optical transmission system is in a 3RU chassis, which can house up to 16 transmitter and/or receiver modules respectively in 50 and 75 ohm versions. An integrated CPU with Ethernet interface and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) allows for the readout of relevant status information and RF parameters such as level values via a user-friendly web interface. That way, the user is able to monitor the incoming L-Band signal level any time and to track the effect of changing weather conditions.

DEV Systemtechnik’s innovative and comprehensive redundancy concept for signal transmission ensures reception of up to 16 satellites by means of a motorised backup antenna. The backup antenna replaces the respective defective antenna. In addition, the integrated information interface provides enhanced information integrity in the head end management system. The stand alone redundancy system is based on three different products: a motorised antenna (DEV 862x), the redundancy switch DEV 1993 for L-Band signals and the control unit DEV 9110, which connects, queries and controls the two elements. The redundancy switch measures and monitors the L-Band signals to the receivers in the head end station. Thanks to the integration of an individually configurable information interface into the head end management system, it is now possible to monitor the status of the antennas and of the entire head end station.

Furthermore, DEV Systemtechnik will also introduce a number of innovative product developments in the area of L-Banddistribution.

“The IBC is without doubt one of the most important international trade fairs and an event not to be missed”, explains the General Manager of DEV, Jörg Schmidt. “We hope to repeat last year’s success and to broaden our international presence.”
