Michael Webel, Präsident des Organisationskomitees der WM und Bundestrainer der Nationalmannschaft des Rollstuhltanzsports, sagte: "Wir freuen uns, die Deutsche Messe als offiziellen Partner der Rollstuhltanz-WM 2010 gefunden zu haben. Die Logistik und Infrastruktur im Convention Center auf dem Messegelände bieten die besten Voraussetzungen für eine gelungene Veranstaltung." Gastgeber ist die niedersächsische Landeshauptstadt Hannover.
Die Sportart Rollstuhltanzen existiert seit Mitte der 70er Jahre und verzeichnet seither zunehmendes Interesse. Seit 1989 werden Europa- und Weltmeisterschaften ausgetragen. Weit über 100 Rollstuhlvereine und Tanzclubs engagieren sich für den noch jungen Sport in Deutschland.
