Mehr als 280 Locations hatten sich um die begehrte Auszeichnung beworben. In jeder der zehn Kategorien entschied ein Online-Voting über die Nominierung von drei Finalisten. Wer von denen dann wiederum das Rennen machen sollte, beurteilte eine fachkundige Jury. Das EXPO-Holzdach konnte sich in der Kategorie Locations für Großveranstaltungen gegen insgesamt 24 Konkurrenten behaupten. Das für die EXPO 2000 in Hannover angefertigte Bauwerk ist das größte zusammenhängende Holzdach der Welt und bedeckt eine Fläche von 16 000 Quadratmetern. In den vier Ausstellungspavillons unter dem EXPO-Dach stehen insgesamt 1 500 Quadratmeter Eventfläche zur Verfügung. Die Location wird während der Messen in Hannover genutzt und kann darüber hinaus als Veranstaltungsort für Jubiläen, Konzerte, Ausstellungen und Feiern aller Art gebucht werden.
