Construction has begun on the third Poraver® plant

New production facility gives Dennert Poraver additional 80,000 tonnes annual production capacity for Poraver® expanded glass, enabling growth through upcoming decades

(PresseBox) (Schlüsselfeld, )
Since 1983, Dennert Poraver has produced expanded glass for the European market at the Postbauer-Heng plant near Nuremberg. In 2007, an additional Poraver® plant in Innisfil (Canada) opened to supply markets in Canada and the US. The third plant, not far from the head office in Schlüsselfeld, will be commissioned in 2020. Now that engineering work is complete and the building permits have been issued, earthmoving work at the new production location began in October 2017. In the final stage of expansion, 240,000 m³ (80,000 tonnes) of the ecological lightweight filler from recycled glass will be produced per year. Construction progress can be tracked live via webcam.

A new plant with eight production lines is under construction on a 53,000 m² site in Schlüsselfeld. The eight independent lines allow products to be made from different recipes on each of the production lines. “This type of production is unique in the world and means that we will be able to develop and produce new products in the future. Our customers will have the ability to procure expanded glass that meets their individual requirements,” explains David Veit Krafft, Managing Director for Sales and Marketing at Dennert Poraver GmbH.

This new plant means additional jobs for the region. By commissioning, 40 new employees will be hired for production and logistics. Over the long term, more than 120 employees will have a job at the new plant in Schlüsselfeld.

The grading work is planned to be completed by end of the year, and the project will take a break for the winter. Construction work will resume in spring 2018.

Overview of the construction schedule

2017: Grading work
2018: Below-grade construction
2019: Erection of the production building
