ServerLift SL500: The easiest and safest way to move, lift and install heavy Data Centre equipment

Daxten extends its portfolio with an automatic lifting solution for heavy IT components in the data centre

(PresseBox) (London, ) In the past, rack mounting and moving heavy and bulky IT components around the Data Centre was difficult. This back breaking work was performed by the Data Centre technical or facility personnel with only some relief provided by using a trolley or cart to move the equipment to the cabinets. At least two people were needed to lift the heavy IT equipment up to the desired RU space in the cabinet. This procedure presents a high risk of injury for the Data Centre staff as well as a potential danger of damaging sensitive and valuable IT equipment. These difficulties are compounded by the fact that today’s Data Centres are growing dynamically and therefore IT hardware has to be changed, supplemented, relocated and reconfigured ever more frequently. Trolley carts and the muscle power of the IT staff naturally reach their physical limits, so the only way to correspond to the increasing demands is to use an automated, capable transportation and lifting solution. Therefore, Daxten a leading supplier of solutions for optimising the energy and resource efficiency within Data Centres offers the ServerLift SL500 system with immediate effect.

The heavy duty ServerLift SL500 is ready for use within minutes. It is capable of moving 227 kilograms of IT equipment to any location within the Data Centre. There, the load can be lifted automatically to a maximum height of 2.4 metres. The whole lifting procedure takes only 60 seconds. A single operator is able to navigate the heavy load easily through doorways, narrow Data Centre aisles and can rotate on it on its axis to any degree and into the smallest of spaces.

The ServerLift SL500 side loading capabilities allows the operator to work from
either the left or right hand side of the unit. This provides the ideal alignment and shelf position for the integration and installation of IT equipment into the cabinet: After the IT components are vertically lifted to the required height the servers can be horizontally inserted via the extendable platform of the ServerLift into the free RU space of the rack. So the final rack mounting and cabling requires fewer personnel and eliminates potential injury.

For added convenience, the ServerLift SL500 is equipped with a built-in battery charger and charge indicator. Both guarantee that the lifting solution is provided with the optimal power for its heaviest work at any time. To make sure that this can be done with the required safety and stableness, the wheels of the ServerLift chassis are secured for each lifting process with the integrated stabiliser brake system.

The ServerLift SL500 is available from Daxten with immediate effect. For further information please contact Daxten on +44 (0)20 8991 6200, info.uk@daxten.com or visit www.daxten.co.uk
