NATJA unterstützt das SIP-Protokoll (Session Initiation Protocoll). Dies bedeutet für den Anwender Investitionssicherheit, da SIP ein Standard nach IETF ist. Dadurch bietet NATJA eine Standardschnittstelle zur SIP-Provider (z.B. 1&1, Freenet, SIP-Gate, Nikotel).
Prinzipiell lassen sich alle SIP-Endgeräte über das IP-Datennetzwerk an NATJA anschließen (SIP-Telefone, Analog-/SIP-Adapter, SIP-Dect Accesspoints u.a.). Insgesamt bedeutet dies eine große Auswahl an tendenziell günstiger werdenden Endgeräten.
Auch bietet die NATJA IP-Telefonanlage mobile Kommunikation wie W-LAN nach IEEE 802.11 Standard, sowie eine DECT SIP-Lösung.
