Auch im fünften Jahr präsentiert der Retro-Games-Kalender zwölf Klassiker der Videospielgeschichte. Der Bogen spannt sich von den ersten Homecomputern Anfang der 1980er Jahre mit ihren groben Pixelgrafiken bis zu den 16-Bit-Rechnern und virtuellen Welten zehn Jahre später. Retro-Spieler und neue Fans der Klassiker kommen wie gewohnt auf ihre Kosten. Wie gewohnt gibt es zu jedem Spiel eine kurze Erklärung zum Gameplay, zur Entstehung und dem Einfluss auf die Videospiel-Entwicklung. Die Screenshots der verschiedenen Systeme zeigen zudem die Unterschiede in den Grafiken von C64, PC, Amiga und Co.
"In diesem Jahr sind wieder einige Spiele dabei, die ihr jeweiliges Genre neu definierten oder erweiterten", so Christian Wirsig, der alle Screenshots für den Kalender angefertigt hat. "Ich denke, dass bei einigen nostalgische Gefühle aufkommen werden und hoffe, dass der ein oder andere dazu animiert wird, die alten Spiele selbst auszuprobieren - sei es auf den alten Rechnern oder mit einem Emulator am PC."
