The smart technology for highly secure and convenient working

Crypto SmartProtect comprises multiple hardware- and software-based security elements. The technology is deployed on computing platforms that are specially qualified by Crypto AG which can easily be integrated into any existing IT infrastructure. Standard operating systems such as Windows or Linux are supported. For the user, this means total Information Security with maximum flexibility, efficiency and ease of use.

The core element, the Crypto SmartProtect Security Module, is integrated into the computing platform. This unassailable hardware component contains all security-relevant encryption and authentication services such as secure boot, secure login and the Crypto SmartProtect OS boot image. This security module cannot be modified and does not just guarantee protection of all the hardware and software but also the integrity of the computing platform.

Crypto SmartProtect OS is the security operating system developed by Crypto AG, which provides completely isolated Compartments. The user environments are encapsulated within them, operated autonomously and the microkernel-based security operating system ensures the simultaneous, separate use of hardware resources. The uncompromising separation is achieved because the software architecture is based on the Security by Design principle and provides the smallest possible and controlled target space in the event of cyberattacks. All security-relevant software components are isolated, independently verifiable and controlled via the microkernel.

Crypto SmartProtect also offers a convenient solution for accessing different organisational or security zones: The technology supports the simultaneous operation of multiple, autonomous user environments. These Compartments are completely separated from one another. A single click is enough to switch from one user environment to the next. For instance, sensitive information can be edited in one Compartment in offline mode, while a second Compartment allows access to public networks at the same time. The consistent separation of user environments ensures Information Security at all times and at the highest level – without compromising ease of use. Sensitive information and documents can thus be created, stored, transmitted and deleted everywhere and at all times in a highly secure way.
