Fast FPGA-based Hardware from Software through CoSynth Technology

CoSynth at Hannover Messe: Hall 2, booth A10

(PresseBox) (Oldenburg, )
CoSynth GmbH & Co. KG presents at Hannover Messe 2011, April 4th-8th. Together with OFFIS – Institute for Information Technology, CoSynth shows its design tools for conversion of software algorithms into fast parallel hardware. The technology used simplifies embedded system design for industrial applications, automotive and medical electronics. The system level design approach leverages modeling and implementation of the whole system in a common model. Both software and hardware are developed using the broadly used C++ language. With CoSynth’s synthesis tools the model is automatically translated for use with FPGA-based hardware. This allows even software developers to start hardware design.
In Hannover, CoSynth presents the tools and a demonstrator. The object recognition of the demonstrator works similar to modern driver assistance systems. A live camera stream of the road is used to recognize traffic signs along the road. The complete system, including camera interface and the central processing core, is generated from existing software algorithms. Using the CoSynth synthesis process, the hardware description in VHDL is automatically derived from them. This way, existing algorithms can be accelerated and prepared for industrial use in embedded systems.
CoSynth’s software tools integrate into existing design processes without the need of replacing them. They can be used with the design flows of e.g. Xilinx and Altera. Besides tool licenses, CoSynth also offers its design methodology and tools as part of the following development services and consultancies:
* Design of FPGA and ASIC systems
* Hardware acceleration
* System-on-Chip
* PCB layout
* Virtual prototyping and co-simulations (SystemC, Matlab/Simulink, VHDL, Verilog)
* Development of embedded software (firmware, RTOS)
* Consulting and training in SystemC, TLM, and ESL design flows
Meet CoSynth at Hannover Messe in Hall 2, booth A10 from April 4th to April 8th 2011.

CoSynth GmbH & Co. KG

CoSynth is a startup in the area of embedded systems design. The company offers design services and tools for fast and efficient development of electronic solutions at system level. The SystemC and C++ based methods are particularly suitable for the design of mixed hardware/software systems and FPGA based solutions. Hardware accelerations for existing software applications are developed fast and precisely with CoSynth’s intersectoral methodology and an own synthesis tool. CoSynth offers software development for embedded systems, too. Further information about services and products can be found at the company’s website http://www.cosynth.com. CoSynth was granted the entrepreneurship prize Gründercampus Niedersachsen in February 2011. CoSynth is supported by means of the European Regional Development Fund.
