Resistant to Diesel Admixtures

Car fuel lines from ContiTech Fluid Technology fit for the future

(PresseBox) (Hanover, )
With fossil fuels moving toward depletion, the trend is clearly in the direction of renewable resources. In view of this, diesel fuels already have a five-percent additive content of rapeseed methyl ester or plant methyl ester (RME/PME), and a content of up to ten percent is under discussion for the future. RME, however, has been shown to be more aggressive than mineral diesel and is known to eat away at several of the materials used for fuel lines in the past.

ContiTech (booth H12, hall 25) offers fuel lines which can withstand pure rapeseed oil as well as the much heralded biodiesel rapeseed methyl ester (RME), yet can also be used with conventional diesel fuel. The lines consist of a polyamide tube, molded hose and steel elbow joint. They are joined via a connecting system, which enables rapid assembly on line and makes dismantling the filter unit easier.

ContiTech developed the resistant polyamide lines for rape-fuel engines in cooperation with engine manufacturer DEUTZ specially for its natural fuel engines. They are resistant to sustained temperatures of up to 130 °C and can withstand brief periods at 150 °C. They also enable smaller bending radii than comparable pipes. This is particularly beneficial with regard to installation space. The risk of fatigue fracture has also been eliminated through the use of elastic material.
