New Universal Tool from ContiTech for Elastic Belts

Safe mounting and removal of elastic V-ribbed belts / Low-cost solution / Now available at specialist dealers / Expanded product range

(PresseBox) (Hannover, )
Practical installation solutions for elastic belts: The ContiTech Power Transmission Group has marketed a new universal tool for mounting elastic Vribbed belts - the CONTI® UNI-TOOL ELAST. "This is a real moneysaver for garages," says Markus Pirsch, head of Marketing Service Automotive Aftermarket at the ContiTech Power Transmission Group. "To be able to change elastic Vribbed belts on vehicles for which no CONTI® ELAST TOOL KIT) with disposable tool was available, garages were previously forced to buy expensive specialpurpose tools from vehicle manufacturers." With the new CONTI® UNI-TOOL ELAST, garages now have the right allpurpose tool readily at hand for nearly all these vehicle applications. It makes for fast, easy and failsafe belt changes. The tool can also be used to remove the old belt. The CONTI® UNI-TOOL ELAST, complete with detailed user instructions, is now available at specialist dealers.

Belt drives with elastic multiple Vribbed belts do not have a belt tensioner. For this reason, car mechanics are forced, in most cases, to use a special mounting tool to change elastic belts. The tool stretches the belt during installation and mounts the belt on the pulley with a certain initial tension. The belt then maintains its tension independently.

In addition to the CONTI® UNI-TOOL ELAST, ContiTech is now also offering all elastic Vribbed belts previously available only as part of a complete set with disposable tool (CONTI® ELAST TOOL KIT) for sale individually. "We are expanding the range to include products that meet the needs of new engines not equipped with belt tensioners in the accessory drive," explains Pirsch. Other elastic belts and complete kits for new vehicles are already in the works.
