Eurasia Rail: ContiTech Showcases Ultramodern Air Suspension Systems

Air suspension systems for primary and secondary suspension: The systems manufacturer for rail vehicles presents high-tech solutions

(PresseBox) (Istanbul, )
From March 8 to 10, ContiTech is exhibiting at Eurasia in Istanbul, Turkey. The manufacturer of suspension systems for rail vehicles will be present at booth C6G in hall 9. The company supplies rail vehicle manufacturers worldwide. In Turkey, the Turkish State Railways are among those using products from the technology company, as is the Metro Istanbul. On display are ultramodern air spring systems for secondary suspension and rubber-to-metal-bonded spring components for primary suspension, plus actuators as bearings for pantographs and other MEGI(r) brand rubber-to-metal-bonded parts.

Primary suspension systems resolve complex wheelset guidance tasks and truck suspension jobs, while secondary suspension systems serve as suspension for the carriage body and enable the truck to turn when negotiating curves. The air spring system on exhibition provides service in an Indian metro system.

With its hydrospring range, ContiTech has on view special axle suspension systems, each consisting of a rubber-to-metal-bonded cone spring and an integrated self-contained hydraulic system. They eliminate the need for any external damping, as an integrated non-wearing system component already takes care of that. As a primary spring, the compact ContiTech MEGI(r)-brand rubber-to-metal-bonded spring functions as support and wheelset guidance spring in the trucks of many rail vehicles, from low-floor transit to high-speed trains. ContiTech offers a multitude of types, as layered spring, cone spring or chevron springs. In combination with an air spring, the cone spring acts as a secondary spring and supports the interplay of stiffness and deflection.

ContiTech likewise has on view actuators used in pantographs. Pantographs serve as current collectors from a firmly installed overhead wire to rail vehicles. At high-speeds under variable weather conditions, the actuators guarantee uniform contact force. They provide reliable, frictionless service for years on end. ContiTech carries product types that work even at temperatures as low as minus 50°C.

The ContiTech Group is one of the world's leading development partners and original equipment suppliers for rail transport. It establishes standards in local and regional transit as well as in the high-speed sector. All around the globe, the technology corporation makes an important contribution to future rail transport. The business unit ContiTech Air Spring Systems produces at eight locations worldwide, including Bursa, Turkey.
