- Engine mount made of halogen-free plastic meets U.S. fire protection standard UL 94 V0
- Fire-retardant up to 220 °C
- Further areas of application possible
A new engine mount by ContiTech is increasing safety in the home. It is made of a halogen-free plastic and is fire-retardant up to 220° C. Among other things, it meets the requirements of the U.S. fire protection standard UL 94 V0, which is identical in content to the European standards DIN EN 60695-11-10 and -20 and the Canadian standard CSA C 22.2. Further advantages for the appliance user: The domestic appliances are noticeably quieter when running due to the professional mounting. At the same time, wear and tear on components such as the drive train in the motor is reduced. This increases the service life of the domestic appliance. Maintenance periods and costs can be considerably reduced.
So far, the new ContiTech engine mount is used in high-end clothes dryers in the USA. "But it's also possible to use it in other areas with high fire protection requirements," explains Thomas Bauer, Key Account Manager at ContiTech Vibration Control. So for example, product solutions for Whirlpools and other domestic appliances that fall under fire protection standard UL 94 V0 are possible.
The ContiTech site in Dolné Vestenice, Slovakia, has successfully adapted the production process in order to achieve optimal production of high quantities of the new mount. The mount elements are now pressed in a unit and no longer welded from individual components. This process also improves the durability of the plastic mount. "The new plastic mount is the perfect extension to our product portfolio," reports Karl Armbrecht, Technical Director of the Dolné Vestenice site.
