ContiTech Exhibits Products of Unrivaled Economic and Environmental Performance

PTC Asia 2013

(PresseBox) (Hannover, )
.
- New eco-friendly drive belts, heavy-duty V-belts for use in machine and plant engineering and in two-wheelers
- Hose lines for industrial vehicles
- Air actuators available with a diameter of up to 570 mm
- Vibration control technology

Heavy-duty timing belts, large-sized hoses, and XXL actuators - at PTC Asia 2013, ContiTech is presenting products that satisfy the most demanding requirements. From October 28-31, 2013, the technology company from Hanover, Germany, is exhibiting in Shanghai at booth C4-2 in hall E5. China is a key market for the company: "We want to grow in forward-looking industries and international markets. We are making very good headway in Asia in particular," says Junsheng Liu, general manager of ContiTech China. "This year, we have further strengthened our sites in China and we are continuing to expand." The company's presence at the trade show focuses on drive solutions for machine construction and two-wheelers, hose solutions, air spring systems and vibration control technology.

ContiTech has broadened its range of eco-friendly drive belts marketed under the BlueConcept label. The label stands for environmentally compatible and healthful industrial applications. In the future, a timing belt will also be available for project business. The CONTI® SYNCHROCHAIN CARBON heavy-duty polyurethane timing belt with carbon tensile member is designed to reliably transmit extremely high forces. It hardly stretches even under enormous loads. At the same time, it wards off abrasion and wear. This makes the belt an ideal alternative to chain drives - in agricultural machinery subject to extreme loads, for example. For high-temperature applications, ContiTech has also developed a rubber heavy-duty timing belt with a carbon tensile member.

The showing is complemented by drive belts for two-wheelers - from scooters through to bicycles equipped with electric motors. Going forward, the topic of individual mobility in metropolitan areas will continue to gain importance and with it the demand for electrically powered two-wheelers. In China, over 120 million people already ride electric bicycles. ContiTech has developed the CONTI® DRIVE SYSTEM for this purpose. Instead of the conventional chain, it uses a drive belt - with a host of advantages for consumers. The size of the teeth ensures increased jump-over protection. In addition, the CONTI® DRIVE SYSTEM requires less pre-tensioning than other systems. This reduces wear and tear on components, such as hubs and bottom brackets, and makes pedaling considerably easier. The system runs without oil and is service-free.

Concentrated industrial expertise for hoses

At PTC Asia, ContiTech is also showing off the full breadth of its industrial hose expertise. The main focus is on original equipment solutions for construction machines and other commercial and industrial vehicles. These include secure hydraulic hose lines for ultra-high pressure levels of up to 420 bar and media-resistant fuel and oil lines, as well as piping couplings up to size 8, robust suction hose applications, and hose lines for efficient air conditioning units. A particular strength of ContiTech is its line assembly expertise.

Another focal area is that of large-diameter material transport hoses, particularly for the mining sector. Ubiquitous and indispensable at building sites, ContiTech's large-sized hoses also transport mud, cement, or bulk material. Their special elastomer compound and sophisticated structure enable them to reliably and safely take on all challenges. In the tough day-to-day conditions at construction sites, these hoses are, after all, subjected to temperature fluctuations, ozone effects, UV radiation, and high mechanical loads. Resistance to weathering is also a distinctive feature of ContiTech concrete hoses. The combination of a robust outer cover, multi-layered tensile member made of ultra tear- and rupture-resistant steel wire, and smooth and extremely wear-resistant inner lining optimally suit them for use with concrete pumps and high-density-solids pumps. ContiTech also provides varied hose solutions for industrial applications.

Air actuator now with a diameter of 570 mm

ContiTech has added larger dimension actuators to its range of fixed-connection air actuators. The existing and proven C-series now also includes air actuators with diameters of up to 570 mm. The new XXL actuators can be used in places where forces in excess of 100 kN are required. Customers benefit in particular from easy assembly of this functional pneumatic module. Another advantage: the large C-types make possible tilt angles of up to 30°. The rodless construction functions without friction seals. This prevents any stick-slip effect. The simple design allows for cost-effective complete solutions.

For over 50 years, ContiTech air actuators and air springs have been used for a wide range of industrial applications such as pressing and compressing material compounds. Thanks to their unique properties and long service life, the quality products prove particularly impressive under demanding operating conditions.

Vibration control solutions

Moreover, ContiTech provides vibration control solutions and services. In Changshu, China, the company manufactures ring elements among other products, which are suitable for bearings in vehicles and machines. With outer diameters of 65 to 256 mm and load capacities of up to 82,000 N, they offer a wide range of applications, as the rigidity can be varied by stacking several ring elements. At the PTC Asia, the company will also display bushings that can compensate torque movements and isolate vibrations in industrial vehicles, construction and agricultural machinery. The SCHWINGMETALL® series B mounting elements and series C dome mount, which offer good acoustic decoupling at a reasonable price-performance ratio, complete the trade fair presentation.
