CONTI SYNCHROCHAIN® is the ideal solution for all applications that place extreme demands on belt performance. It is designed for maximum power transmission and, at the same time, features high resistance to a large number of environmental factors, media and chemicals, like fuels, oil, grease and cleaning agents. In addition, it is also resistant in most applications to moisture and to temperatures ranging from minus 40°C to plus 100°C. "We've expanded our range of molds, and so the CONTI SYNCHROCHAIN® can now be used for even more applications than before", explained Christian Scholz, Branch manager PUR Segment at ContiTech Power Transmission Group. "This larger product offering enables us to gain even more customers internationally and to better exploit the benefits of this superb ultra-heavy-duty drive belt."
CONTI SYNCHROCHAIN® is currently standard equipment on go-karts from manufacturers like Formula K and Schaller 1. These ContiTech belts are becoming increasingly popular, especially in the U.S., where kart racing is really "in". The high-performance timing belt also plays its part in Formula 1 auto racing: It runs on a machine that makes pistons for Formula 1 engines used by all racing teams. CONTI SYNCHROCHAIN® has already proved its worth in other fields, too. Examples here include bottle filling machines, textile machinery for embroidery work, and printing roll changers for newspaper printing machines.
This wide variety of applications is possible due to the belt's special construction and material mix. The smooth back side of the CONTI SYNCHROCHAIN® belt enables the use of back pulleys. The aramid fiber tension members have a bifilar 'S' or 'Z' twist, enabling the belt to withstand extreme cases of starting torque, as well as shock loads and high dynamic strain. The teeth have therefore been reinforced on the pulley side. Profile design enables most existing drive solutions to be replaced without any trouble at all.
