The Supervisory Board of Continental AG has ap-pointed Elke Strathmann (53) as a regular member of the Executive Board of the international automotive supplier. The mathematician and human resources manager will take up her duties in the first quarter of 2012. She will be responsible for the field of human resources and act as Director of Personnel. The contract period will be three years.The current Executive Board member for HR, Heinz-Gerhard Wente, will concentrate on his duties as head of the ContiTech division and also take on responsibility for Corporate Purchasing in the Executive Board. The contracts of four Executive Board members were also extended.
At today's Supervisory Board meeting in Timi?oara, Romania, Continental Supervisory Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Reitzle noted: "In the person of Ms Strathmann, we have been able to win over an HR expert with international experience. She is taking on the area of hu-man resources at a phase filled with ambitious goals. Now more than ever, it is vital that Continental as an attractive employer finds the best talents worldwide. The Supervisory Board thanks Heinz-Gerhard Wente for his great commitment and meritorious service in the development of the company's human resources."
Elke Strathmann studied mathematics in Essen and started off her career in 1983 as IT manager at Procter & Gamble, where she held various managerial positions in the field of HR starting in 1989. After joining Johnson & Johnson in 1994, she was HR manager for the company's German operations, followed by international management responsibilities within the corporation. Since early 2007, Ms Strathmann has been Board of Management member for HR and chief human resources officer of Nestlé Deutschland AG.
At its meeting, the Supervisory Board also extended the contracts of three Executive Board members - Dr. Ralf Cramer (45), Chassis & Safety division, Helmut Matschi (48), Interior division, and Nikolai Setzer (40), Tires division - by five years to August 12, 2017. The con-tract of Heinz-Gerhard Wente (60), ContiTech division, was extended by two years to April 30, 2014.
