Continental demonstrates strong system integration competence at Auto Expo 2010

Products and solutions customized to the Indian market with continuous focus on au-tomotive megatrends: "safety, environment, information and affordable cars"

Acknowledging the growing importance of the Indian automotive industry inside the global automotive arena, the international automotive supplier Continental AG presents the company and its major product portfolio at India's most important auto show, the Auto Expo 2010. It showcases the products and solutions tailormade for the Asian and Indian market.

As one of the market leaders for many of its products, which focus on the four automotive megatrends safety, environment, information and affordable cars identified by the company, Continental displays its advanced technologies for Chassis & Safety, Powertrain, Interior and ContiTech in hall 12, booth 22. Moreover, in a dedicated corner, Continental unveils its brand new demo car called "IDOL", which is packed with ideas and products which are aimed at the emerging markets. IDOL also demonstrates strong system integration competence and the growth for local production and R&D footprint in India.

Based upon its comprehensive knowhow and wide product portfolio as shown by the demo car "IDOL", Continental offers products focused on enhancing mobility, safety, and driving pleasure at affordable prices while at the same time integrating environmentallyfriendly technologies. Powered by 1.5 ltr 3 cylinder turbo charged direct injection gasoline engine and 12KW mild hybrid drivetrain, Continental believes a reduction of CO2 emissions by up to 15% while increasing engine power by up to 14% and increasing the torque by up to 36% can be achieved. To enhance functionality of the vehicle, "IDOL" is equipped with not only a new instrument cluster with outstanding features for an optimized Human-Machine Interface (HMI) by touch screen and voice recognition, but also entertainment systems with MP3, DVD Video, integrated navigation and a Bluetooth interface for mobile phones. Such advanced incar information management is aimed at minimizing driver distraction as well as ensuring that the driver has all of the information he wants while still being in full control of his vehicle. Electronic Stability Control (ESC), presently the most important active safety system used in automobiles, ensures the stability and controllability of the vehicle in all driving situations. With ContiGuard® on board, "IDOL" demonstrates an integrated active and passive safety system which represents the next level of driving safety technology. Every safetyrelevant active and passive function, including the corresponding environment sensor system, is fully integrated into a comprehensive safety package. Effective accident prevention (Vision ZERO), the minimization of the consequences of accidents and the risk of injuries, new functionalities through system integration and reduced cost through the use of common components are some of the outstanding advantages of ContiGuard®. The tires of "IDOL" combine an outstanding safety performance, especially in stopping power, with low rolling resistance values.
